    About Vape Batteries

Vape batteries are used to power lots of vape kits and devices, some kits will contain built-in batteries and others will need to be fitted with a battery to power the device. Most commonly vape kits and mods are powered by either a 18650 size or a 21700 size battery. These types of batteries are lithium-ion batteries that need to be recharged in a special, external, lithium-ion battery charger.

Many new Vapers assume that a vape battery can be treated the same way as a regular household AA battery for example when in reality they are two very different items. Vape batteries need to be looked after and protected from other metal objects, extreme temperatures and damage to the external wraps. Failure to look after a lithium-ion battery correctly can result in explosion or fire risks, so it's important for anyone using one to understand its limits, how to store them and how to look after them correctly.

To charge a vape battery is fairly simple, lots of vape mod kits have an inbuilt USB charging point which will allow you to charge the battery within the device, similar to how you charge a smartphone. This is ok to do on occasion, however, it's much safer to recharge your batteries in a high-quality lithium-ion charger, specifically designed to charge these types of batteries at the correct rate. Chargers are relatively low-cost and a good investment for anyone that charges batteries regularly. Whether you’re charging your batteries in your device or a charger, you should never leave a lithium battery charging unattended, for example when you’re out of the house or asleep at night. If anything does go wrong, you need to ensure you’re around to react to it.
