      About vape juice

E-liquid's are used in vaping kits and pods to create a flavoured vapour. Vape juice is a liquid created using PG, VG, optional nicotine, and flavourings. When heated in the kit by the coil it creates vapour that you inhale. People who want to stop smoking may switch to vaping e-liquid in a kit as you can control the amount of nicotine in the liquid if you're trying to cut down, and will still have the action of inhaling nicotine like a cigarette without the many harmful chemicals that would usually be found in cigarettes.

We'll give you the run down on the vape juice basics below and have you clued up in no time, of course if you have another question related to e-liquid or vaping in general, drop us a message or give our friendly team a call and we'll be happy to help.

      What is e-liquid?

E-liquid is the flavoured vape juice used refill your vape tank or pod. E-liquid comes in a variety of options, flavours and strengths.

Vape Juice is made up of four main ingredients, PG, VG, flavourings and nicotine. The E-liquid is then heated by a coil inside of the vape tank which produces a vapour to inhale. The nicotine from this vapour is absorbed via the lungs in to the blood stream.

Vape juice is commonly referred to by many other names, E-liquid, E-juice and Vape liquid, however they all mean the same thing.

How much does vape juice cost?

The price of e-liquid will vary depending on brand and size. The average price for one bottle of 10ml e-liquid is around £4, there are also 3 for £10 and 4 for £10 e-liquid deals on our website.

You can also purchase higher volumes of e-liquid in shortfill format, and the cost per ml is greatly reduced.

The price of e-liquid will also vary depending on the quality of ingredients too. The more premium the flavourings used, the more expensive the liquid would be.

What is the best strength e-liquid?

The best strength e-liquid depends on what type of equipment you buy and how many cigarettes you smoke. Typically, most smokers begin with a starter kit or a pod kit. You will find that the more you smoked the higher strength of nicotine vape juice you will need. Heavy smokers should look to the 18-20mg/ml juices. Someone who smokes around 10 cigarettes per day might find that 6-12mg/ml will satisfy their craving. Light smokers or those opting to buy a sub-ohm set up will find 3-6mg/ml is probably sufficient.

It is very likely you may have to experiment with different strengths as two people owning the same equipment might have totally different vaping styles. Fine tuning to your needs is a natural process.

What is a vape juice ratio?

50/50 signifies the proportion of VG to PG in the juice, so a 50/50 E Liquid would be half VG and half PG. Other common ratios are 60/40, 70/30, and 80/20.

PG - Propylene Glycol - is a thin, clear liquid without any odour of its own. It is a great carrier for E Liquid flavours and therefore found in most E Liquids. Mouth to Lung E Liquids tend to have more PG than Direct to Lung/sub-ohm E Liquids.

VG - Vegetable Glycerine – is a sweet liquid, much thicker and less runny than PG. It makesE Liquid smoother to vape and produces more cloud than PG. Direct to Lung or Sub OhmE Liquids tend to have more VG than PG.

      What is Freebase Eliquid?

Freebase describes the type of nicotine found in standard E Liquids. It is the same nicotine that is found in tobacco, nicotine patches and nicotine gum. Juice manufacturers use the same pharmaceutical-grade freebase nicotine liquid that pharmaceutical companies use in nicotine replacement products. Freebase nicotine delivers more of a throat hit than nicotine salts, similar to smoking. Prime vapes stocks a range of regulation compliant 10ml E-liquids containing freebase nicotine.

      What is a shortfill e-liquid?

E Liquid that doesn’t contain nicotine is not limited to 10ml bottles. As it can be supplied in larger volumes, a space is left in the bottle for the consumer to add a solution of nicotine at a later date. These bottles of nicotine-free E Liquids are called shortfills. Our short fill E Liquids are typically used in conjunction with our Nic Shots to create 50ml or 100ml of 3 or 6mg E Liquid.

Which E Liquid flavour is best?

The best flavour e-liquid is one that you can vape all day without getting bored. A great starting place is to look at the flavour categories we offer and see which one you’d prefer to explore. Prime Vapes stocks Candy LiquidsCustard E LiquidsDessert E LiquidsFruity E LiquidsMenthol & Mint E Liquids, and Tobacco E Liquids.

What does All Day Vape (ADV) mean?

Vapers use the term All-day Vape (ADV) to describe a juice they find so rewarding they can vape it all day, every day. Even if they have one flavour they consider to be their ADV, many vapers end up owning more than one piece of kit and tend to have several flavours on the go; they find experimenting to be part of the fun. Maybe you will find yours in our Prime Vapes E Liquid range or in one of our Featured Brands.

What is a Nicotine Shot used for in e-liquid?

A nicotine shot can be added to 0mg e-liquid to reach your desired strength. Current legislation says that E Liquids containing nicotine are limited to 10ml bottles. An alternative is to buy a larger bottle, called shortfill E Liquid, and add a “shot” of nicotine to it, typically to turn it into a 3mg or 6mg E Liquid. These shots are called Nic Shots.

Why are some E Liquids in 10ml bottles?

British legislation is currently based on the European Tobacco Products Directive (TPD). The law states that if a bottle contains nicotine it is restricted to a volume of 10ml. Prime Vapes’ 10ml E-Liquids are fully compliant with current UK legislation which regulates the components of the juice.

Which E Liquid should I use in a Direct to Lung (DTL) / Sub Ohm tank?

Direct to Lung (DTL) / Sub Ohm vapers tend to prefer using E Liquids with higher concentrations of VG liquid in the juice and lower concentrations of nicotine. Typically, someone will use a 3mg or 6mg strength E Liquid. Sub Ohm TanksRTA Tanks, and RDA Tanks used for DTL vaping tend to use more juice and for this reason vapers tend to buy Shortfill E Liquids with Nic Shots.

      What is the TPD E-liquid?

The European Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) is legislation that applies to all countries in the European Union. You probably noticed that the United Kingdom recently left the EU. Politicians are currently examining our legislation to see how it can be changed. The Government has announced that it will carry out a consultation exercise during 2021 to see if bottles containing nicotine can be larger than 10ml and whether E Liquid nicotine concentration can be raised from the maximum of 20mg/ml. In the UK, all nicotine containing e-liquids need to be emissions tested and submitted to the MHRA for approval before being sold in the UK.
